For me and most of my friends, Skype is not a new
application. We use it to make phone call with our parents who live far away from
the U.S.
It is exciting to know that Skype has a new
program, Skype in the classroom, which is specifically designed for education
purpose. Following the idea of Web 2.0, Skype in the classroom allows its users
to join in the community and share information online. Also, you could also
search for help from the community that someone will perhaps respond.
As a teacher, especially a language teacher, Skype in the
classroom is a great tool. Using the huge social-net working service, it is
easy to find another class who speak the target language. Then you could
present to your students the target language speaking country’s real life.
With the help of Skype in the classroom,
everything is authentic.
